Always essential. Heritage Christian Services offers programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Their mission is to improve people’s lives—including the lives of their employees. They firmly believe that an employee’s day-to-day work should inspire them, move them, and make them feel like their efforts are making a difference. My creative collaborators on this project were copywriter Julie Garland Clementi, illustrator Chris Lyons and Meshin Movement.

 
 

Challenge

Heritage Christian Services needed to recruit more direct support professionals to serve the growing needs of their community. With the shortage of health and human services workers as a national crisis and the work being rigorous with long hours for minimum wage pay, HCS was facing quite a challenge.

solution

Create a recruitment campaign that focuses on how current employees feel about working at HCS using employee quotes and “heroic” portraits that elevate their role and field and are highly differentiated from the category and job market.
